Tours / Mythological stories in Piazza della Signoria: experience for children

Finally Florence seen through a child's eye!

Piazza della Signoria is a large cultural playground, where children and teenagers can learn the best stories of Greek mythology through the intriguing story of our guide and the imposing statues that stand out in the square. A tip for children: send your parents for an aperitif in one of the fantastic cafes that dot the Piazza della Signoria and live this experience freely. Under the careful supervision of our expert guide, you will have a great time and listen to fantastic tales, the stories that are the basis of humanity's cultural baggage.

We will talk about Poseidon, thanks to the huge statue that rises imposingly in the center of the Fountain of Neptune, of Perseus and his brothers Athena and Hermes, we will see them in the artistic representation of the statue of Perseus by Benvenuto Cellini.

We will clarify the descent of Zeus and his many wives. We will also see the great Hercules, which the city of Florence has chosen as a symbol of strength, we will see him in more than one statue on the Piazza della Signoria. Of course, we will not forget the story of the beautiful Sabine women, kidnapped by the Romans after the founding of the city of Rome, but neither will the biblical story of Judith against King Holofernes. And how not to go and find the over one hundred lions that are everywhere in the square. And why? We will find out during the magnificent guided experience!

The prince of the Piazza is still Michelangelo's David today, after more than 500 years. Today on the place where the statue stood we have a copy, which is in place of the original (kept in the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence) and we will take advantage of it to illustrate the magnificent story of David as a child against the Giant Goliath. There will also be surprises: the hidden details in the large Piazza della Signoria, which need an in-depth visit, just like this one you are about to experience!

By the way: if you are very young and prefer your parents to accompany you on the visit, no problem, parents are welcome, as long as they let the children talk without correcting them or suggesting answers.

This experience is the first and only one in Florence dedicated exclusively to younger visitors!
